The 12th annual visit to Broadway includes round trip travel, two nights at the Hilton New York, and a Saturday evening performance of Elton John’s musical, Billy Elliot, at the Imperial Theatre. Bus leaves the Rockville Campus at 8 a.m. Saturday, November 7, and will return to Rockville approximately 8 p.m. Monday, November 9.

World Champion Fancy Dancer Larry Yazzie of the Meskwaki Nation, and the Native Pride Dancers perform music and movement passed down by their ances- tors for centuries. Enjoy the beauty, skill, and majesty of the flamboyant Fancy Dance, featuring free-style movement with lots of energy, spectacular costumes, and sacred songs from the Northern Plains.

Enhanced by indigenous vocal and flute music, other dances like the Buffalo, Eagle, and Round Dance celebrate various animals, crops, the sun, and the wind.

Plays: “The Woodman and the Goblins”/“Fair Rosamund and Her Murderer”/“Dr. Faustus.” A lonely woodcutter finds three eggs in the middle of the dark forest, Rosamund is mistress to Henry II of England and his jealous queen sends a murderer to do her in, Doctor Faustus conjures up the devil who is a young, beautiful, elusive, woman with whom he becomes obsessed. These three scaring, funny, haunting plays are set in a dark medieval elegance with themes of love, isolation and loneliness.

Rockville Campus - Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center

Written by American playwright John Guare, The House of Blue Leaves is a dark comedy about long-suffering zookeeper Artie Shaugnessy who dreams of being a famous songwriter. Unfortunately, his songs aren’t very good and his life is just as bad. Enter Artie’s old school friend and successful Hollywood producer Billy Einhorn, who could hold the key to Artie’s dreams becoming reality. But like so many dreams, this promise of glory evaporates amidst the chaos of ordinary lives. House of Blue Leaves won the 1971 Critics Award and the Obie Award for best American play. The House of Blue Leaves contains mature themes and/or language that some patrons may find objectionable.
